The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, this romantic fairy tale still warms the hearts of children and adults alike. This Enchanted Edition is inspired by the 1997 teleplay.

Artistic Director’s Thoughts: ‘Cinderella’ is the fairy tale to end all fairy tale’s. With many versions to choose from- I found myself drawn to the enchanted edition. The Brandy and Whitney Houston version is what I grew up with and has found a whole new generation with its recent release on Disney+. I envision a modern take on ‘Cinderella’ that will highlight how anyone’s dreams can come true. Beloved characters, magic galore- what’s not to love!

PLEASE NOTE: Our middle school productions are being creatively designed to adhere to social distancing with masks worn. We are restructuring how we normally do things with our students but promise a theatrical and educational experience that will be fun and challenging for all. These shows were specifically chosen because of our ability to design an experience that will be meaningful but safe.

SOME CHANGES TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMMING:

  • We will be following BLP’s newly revised safety protocols (attached here)
  • We will cap productions at 25 students. Once full we will maintain a waiting list.
