BLP Spring Programming
Broken Leg is thrilled to present our exciting programs for both middle and high school students! We hope you and your friends will join us for a season of growth, theatre education, high quality theatre friends and fun!
High School Musical Production: ‘Urinetown’
This spring- our high school program will be producing the musical comedy ‘Urinetown’ This program will meet once a week and teach the theatrical process through production. This program will culminate in a production of the dystopian and hysterical ‘Urinetown’. This program will be open to students currently in grades 7-12 as of September ‘18.
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!
Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the “comedic romp” into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter. BLP cannot wait to explore this wonderfully funny title with our High School program!
Performance dates are April 5th and 6th
Middle School Musical Production:
‘The Addams Family’
This spring- our middle school program will be producing the musical comedy ‘The Addams Family’ This program will meet once a week and teach the theatrical process through production. This program will culminate in a production of the kooky and spooky ‘The Addams Family’. This program will be open to students currently in grades 4-10 as of September ‘18.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents. BLP cannot wait to explore this wonderfully funny title with our High School program!
